Abigail Henkin (she/her) is a Los Angeles-based playwright and screenwriter. Her one-act play Personal Speaker won the Vaclav Havel Library Foundation Mini-Drama contest. It received a staged reading in New York in June 2021 and was published by the foundation. Her one-act play Decision Day was produced as part of the 31st Pegasus Young Playwrights Festival. A Chicago native, she received honors in both Theater and Cinema from the University of Chicago, where she studied with Calamity West, Mickle Maher and Shade Murray. She won the Olga and Paul Menn Foundation Prize for Olga’s Strike. She was the Assistant Director and Dramaturg Associate of the reimagining of The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice at the Court Theatre, working with Charles Newell and Gabrielle Randle-Bent. She is currently a Creative Assistant at LAIKA. She has also worked with Young Jean Lee, Lookingglass, and The Revival. She once played a stalk of corn in an elementary production of The Wizard of Oz.
